Facial Balancing Filler

Restoring structure and facial balance

What it is

Facial balancing fillers are hyaluronic acid gels used to replace the structural volume the face loses over time. As the deep fat pads and bone recede, the mid-face flattens, the jawline softens and folds around the mouth deepen. Filler restores support at the point where it has actually been lost.

The approach here is structural rather than cosmetic patching. Treating the cause — a deflated cheek, an under-projected chin — usually delivers a better outcome than filling the fold that the deflation created.

Who it’s for

Patients noticing flattening through the cheeks, deepening nasolabial folds or marionette lines, a softening jawline, or hollowing at the temples.

It also suits younger patients seeking better facial balance — a more defined chin or jawline — rather than age-related correction.

The benefits

  • Restores lost volume in the cheeks, temples and mid-face
  • Defines the jawline and improves chin projection
  • Softens nasolabial folds and marionette lines by treating the cause
  • Improves overall facial balance and proportion
  • Immediate, natural-looking structural support
  • Reversible — hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved

Treatment Areas

Facial balancing works across the whole face rather than one feature at a time, restoring support where it has actually been lost.

  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Chin
  • Under eye
  • Jawline

What to expect

The process

Every appointment follows the same considered sequence, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Dr Allison mid-conversation, hand resting under her chin

    Step 1

    Full-face consultation

Dr Allison assesses the whole face rather than the single area that bothers you, because volume loss in one region routinely shows up as a problem in another. You'll be shown exactly where support has been lost and what treating it would achieve.

  2. Dr Allison pulling on a treatment glove

    Step 2

    Cleanse, numb and map

Skin is thoroughly cleansed and topical anaesthetic applied. Injection points and depths are mapped against your anatomy, with particular care around the vascular danger zones of the face.

  3. Dr Allison holding a fine-gauge syringe

    Step 3

    Treatment

Filler is placed using a needle or blunt-tipped cannula depending on the area, with a cannula preferred where it reduces bruising and vascular risk. You'll be sat up throughout to check symmetry in a natural position.

  4. Dr Allison holding up a branded hand mirror

    Step 4

    Aftercare

Mild swelling and tenderness are normal for two to three days.

  5. Dr Allison smiling to camera

    Step 5

    Two-week review

Once swelling has fully resolved, the result is reviewed and any refinement made. Larger structural corrections are often best staged across two appointments rather than completed in one sitting.

Frequently asked questions

The questions patients ask most often about facial balancing filler. If yours isn't here, ask us on WhatsApp — we're happy to answer before you book.

  • The fillers used here are hyaluronic acid gels — a sugar molecule your body already produces to hold water in the skin. Different areas call for different gel densities, from soft and flexible to firm and structural.

  • The gel is placed at a specific depth, often against bone, to replace lost structural support and lift the tissue above it. Correcting the underlying deflation is what softens the fold, rather than filling the fold directly.

  • Topical anaesthetic is applied first and the fillers contain lidocaine. Where a cannula is used, there is a single entry point and the rest is felt as pressure. Most patients find it far more comfortable than anticipated.

  • It depends entirely on how much volume has been lost. One millilitre is roughly a fifth of a teaspoon, so meaningful structural work often needs two or more. Dr Allison will give you an honest figure and is happy to stage treatment across visits.

  • The structural change is visible immediately, though swelling can exaggerate it for the first few days. The settled result is what you see at two weeks.

  • Nine to eighteen months depending on the product, the area and how mobile it is. Firmer fillers placed deep against bone in the cheeks or chin generally outlast softer products in mobile areas.

  • In trained medical hands it has a strong safety record, but it is a medical procedure with real risks — including vascular occlusion, which is why it should only ever be performed by a practitioner who understands facial anatomy and keeps hyaluronidase on site. Every risk is discussed at consultation.

  • Expect two to three days of swelling and the possibility of bruising, particularly around the mouth and under the eyes. Allow two weeks before an important event.
